The Embassy of China will issue "express visas" to Indian
businessmen whose names are recommended by the newly launched India-China
Business Alliance, Ambassador of China to India Sun Yuxi said. China, in turn, asked
India to expedite the process of issuing visas to the Chinese businessmen.
The Chinese ambassador on Tuesday launched the India-China Business Alliance (ICBA)
in collaboration with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India
(Assocham).
In a statement released after the launch, the Assocham quoted the Chinese ambassador
as saying that the express visas would be issued to closely knit together business
synergies of China and India.
The express visas would be issued to the Indian businessmen who intend to set up their
manufacturing and export oriented units in China, in close technical and non-technical
cooperation with Chinese businessmen.
The India-China Business Alliance was an initiative that would also help to remove the
existing artificial trade barriers to the growth of business volumes between China and
India, the ambassador said.
The envoy hoped that a visit by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to China "later this
year" would pave the way for India's becoming the largest trade and economic partner
of China within a decade.
The bilateral retail trade was likely to exceed over 50 billion dollars from the current
level of around 20 billion dollars in the next few years, the ambassador noted.
On the occasion of the launch of the India-China Business Alliance at the Assocham
office, the leader of the Chinese business delegation, Mr Miao Helin, asked India to
reciprocate by expediting the process of issuing visas to the Chinese businessmen.
